Joey has dedicated his life to serving others. He joined the military after high school and served six years on active duty with the Army in a myriad of positions and roles. After returning from a tour in Afghanistan, Joey recognized a deficit between the mental health of Service Members and their hesitancy to access care. He spent several years coaching team members and peers through trials and tribulations while finishing his Bachelors Degree in Psychology from TESU. He dedicated his time toward the betterment of his unit through a pro-academic policy campaign that enabled several soldiers to enroll and graduate from a plethora of universities. When he left the military in 2020, he spent a year as a psychiatric specialist in an inpatient psychiatric unit during COVID-19 where he worked intimately with vulnerable populations.
In 2021, Joey moved to Los Angeles to study at Pepperdine University's West LA campus through the Graduate School of Education and Psychology. While studying as a graduate student of the Applied Behavioral Analysis program, he concurrently served as doctoral research assistant for Dr. Cohen for over a year. After culminating over 2,000 fieldwork hours at WJCC, UCLA, and through in-home services, Joey sat and passed the BCBA exam in 2023 and received licensure in Texas shortly thereafter. He accepted a BCBA residency position in Houston, Texas in June of 2023 and was promoted to Senior BCBA the following year.
In the Summer of 2024, Joey decided that he wanted to give back to the Houston community and thereby formed Delta Divergent, LLC. Delta serves as a dynamic enterprise through which neurodivergent adults in the Houston community receive a myriad of adaptive services. His passion for improving the lives of those in his community is unparalleled. Currently, Joey not only owns and operates Delta, but serves as a Clinical Director at a local ABA company where his clinic consistently ranks #1 for caregiver guidance. He is a National Association of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer focusing on preventative strategies for neurodivergent populations. Additionally, he is an MBA student at Johns Hopkins University where he is an esteemed member of the prestigious Fellowship Program at the Center for Innovation and Leadership.
